Recently, officers with the Benton Police Department took a report of a possible rape involving a female victim. Detectives then took over the investigation and evidence indicated that a rape had taken place.
Detectives then made contact with the suspect in the case, identified as Franklin Lewis (29 YOA) of Benton. After an extensive investigation, Lewis was subsequently arrested on 1/24/14 and charged with 6 counts of Rape and 1 count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was then transported to the Saline County Detention Facility and is currently being held on a $10,000 bond.
The victim and Lewis were acquaintances prior to this incident taking place. This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be possible as it continues.
