Officer Stops To Assist A Citizen And Solves Numerous Property Crimes

On 11/23/13, at approximately 11:30 PM, an officer was patrolling near the National Guard Armory on Fairfield Road when they observed what appeared to be a citizen possibly having car problems on the parking lot.  The officer then stopped to check on the subject, later identified as E. Morgan (48 YOA).

During the course of the conversation with Morgan, the officer developed information that he was actually stealing parts off of the vehicle and that it didn’t belong to him.  Subsequent investigation by the officer revealed that Morgan was also responsible for two other recent incidents in the city where three air conditioning units had copper stolen from them.

Morgan is charged with Breaking or Entering, 2 counts of Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, Possession of an Instrument of Crime, Theft of Lost or Mislaid Property, and 2 counts of Theft of Property (Felony).  This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be possible in the future.
