TWO ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED BURGLARY ATTEMPT

Potter Brittney SuezannSkaggs Travis LeeTwo Benton residents were arrested today after an alleged burglary of a business was foiled by an alarm and officers response. At approximately 3:22 a.m. Thursday, June 2, officers responded to 706 Center Street in reference to a business alarm.

Upon arrival officers found 21-year-old Brittney Suezann Potter of Benton in the parking lot of the business and the business owner arrived soon after. Officers proceeded to clear the business when the business owner noticed a man, later identified as 27-year-old Travis Skaggs of Benton, exiting a side door. No other persons were located inside the business.

Skaggs was found in possession of a screw driver and officers noted the appearance of fresh tool marks on the open business door. Potter was found in possession of a glass pipe and suspected marijuana.

Skaggs was taken into custody and faces charges of Commercial Burglary, class C felony; Possession an Instrument of Crime, class A misdemeanor; and Criminal Trespass, class C misdemeanor. Potter was taken into custody and faces charges of Commercial Burglary, class C felony; Criminal Trespass, class C misdemeanor; Possession of a Controlled Substance, class A misdemeanor; and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, class A misdemeanor.
