There are some interesting facts discovered by the Benton Police Department while reviewing the DWI arrests made in February, such as 8 of the 18 arrests were made along the Interstate 30 corridor. Though there were no DWI arrests made on any Friday during the month, 11 of the 18 arrests were made in the early morning hours of Sunday and Monday.
Three DWI arrests were made at the site of vehicle accidents - one was a two vehicle accident with injuries. Six of the DWI arrests in February were made on a Monday, five were made on a Sunday, three arrests were made on a Wednesday, and two were made on a Thursday. There was only one arrest made on a Tuesday and only one made on a Saturday. And of the 18 arrested for a DWI charge, 12 were males.
Of the 18 DWI arrests, 8 were made along the I-30 corridor. There were two arrests on Congo Road; two were made on S. Highway 5; and single arrests were made on W. Carpenter, Highway 35 N., Highway 67, Edison Avenue, Military Road, and Alcoa Road.
The majority of DWI arrests were made between 11 p.m. Sunday and 1:30 a.m. Monday. To further detail, there were 9 DWI arrests in the morning hours (12:30 a.m., 12:53 a.m., 12:57 a.m., 1:11 a.m., 1:15 a.m., 2:32 a.m., 3:09 a.m., 3:20 a.m., and 7:23 a.m.). Eight DWI arrests were made at night (8:41 p.m., 9:33 p.m., 9:37 p.m., 9:49 p.m., 10:42 p.m., 11:07 p.m., 11:49 p.m., and 11:56 p.m.) There was one DWI arrest made at 1:21 p.m.
These statistics is being presented in an effort to maximize safety and increase education to the public to prevent accidents.
