DISTURBANCE CALL ENDS IN ARREST FOR BURGLARY AND TERRORISTIC THREATENING CHARGES FOR ONE

EdithPennyOn 7/20/15, at approximately 8:49 PM, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to 407 N. Fourth St. Apt. A in reference to a call of a disturbance.  
 
Upon officers arrival, they made contact with the victim in the case who advised that a suspect, identified as Edith Penny (47 YOA) of Benton, had broken into their home and threatened them.  According to the victim, Penny knocked on her door with a hammer and then forced her way into the apartment.  Once inside the apartment, Penny then threatened to harm the victim with the hammer.  There were two children present during this incident.  
 
Based on information and evidence gathered at the scene, officers took Penny into custody without incident.  A hammer located during the incident was taken and entered into evidence in the case.  
 
Penny was transported to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing.  She is charged with Aggravated Residential Burglary and Terroristic Threatening.  This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be forthcoming.
