BNPD OFFICERS ARREST TWO FOR BURGLARY AND METH CHARGES

Ward-Cunningham

On 5/9/15, at approximately 7:09 PM, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to the area of Mink Road on report of a possible burglary in progress at a residence.  Upon their arrival they observed a truck and trailer with items in the back with two suspects nearby.

Officers made contact with the two suspects who were identified as David Cunningham (58 YOA) and Terry Ward (56 YOA), both of Benton.  The residence and items found in truck were found to belong to a construction company that was working in the area.

Further investigation determined the trailer on the suspect’s truck had previously been reported stolen from a Benton residence on an earlier date.  A plastic baggie was also found that contained a white crystal-like substance that was believed to be suspected Methamphetamine (8.5 grams).

Ward and Cunningham were subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing.  Ward and Cunningham were both charged with Residential Burglary, Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, Theft of Property, Theft by Receiving, and Unauthorized Use of Another Person’s Property (truck) to Facilitate a Crime.  Ward also had an active warrant out of our agency for Failure to Appear.  This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be forthcoming.
