On 12/4/14, at approximately 7:11 pm, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to a physical disturbance call between two subjects at Murphy USA (17305 I-30). Upon their arrival, officers made contact with two subjects, later identified as Clayton Norris (32 YOA) of Benton and Kenneth McDade (23 YOA) of Benton. Based on information from them and witnesses, it was determined they had been involved in a verbal argument with each other. It escalated whenever Norris displayed a black pistol in his waistband and threatened to use it, although it was never pointed towards McDade. Officers recovered the pistol inside a trash can at the business and determined it was a BB gun that strongly resembled a real pistol.
McDade was cited and released at the scene for Disorderly Conduct and Norris was arrested and is charged with Aggravated Assault. Norris was transported to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing without incident.
This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be forthcoming as it continues.
